This document describes the collection and usage of information from you, the end user of A Very Merry Christmas Store, LLC and its Internet services, "averymerrychristmasstore.com", AKA "avmcs.biz" ("AVMCS"). We want you to be completely informed about how we collect and use information that can identify you personally, as well as general information collected and aggregated for purposes secondary to our web services.
The staff at AVMCS likes to shop on the web too. And the webmaster is a total privacy geek, so he hates getting his inbox filled with useless junk more than anybody we know. (We've even seen him yell at his e-mail program for not catching those e-mails. He really needs a social life.) We don't like it when our information is used without our permission. Therefore, we are extremely committed to making sure you know exactly how your information will be used, why we need it, and what we do to safeguard it from being taken by people who don't have any business getting it.
If you want the bottom line, without reading the rest of this stuff: we use only the information needed to get the job
done, nothing more. And we don't give that information away, or store credit card data. (Our accounts with the
"merchant banks" that process the credit cards don't allow us to keep them -- only the transaction numbers). We
don't send you any marketing e-mails or postal mail unless you "Opt-In" first. All our customer data is stored with
high-grade encryption, far beyond anything the US Government allows to be transmitted over the Internet.
Which means if the webmaster ever gets hit by a truck, we're probably in big trouble.
In order to complete a transaction, we collect credit card information to send to our merchant bank for processing. Our data collection and retention standards meet or exceed the requirements set by the major credit card companies.
Personal Information includes name, address, telephone number, e-mail address, and related information. We collect this information to allow delivery of merchandise, and to allow contact in case of a problem or question from AVMCS staff.
In order to complete a sale, we must collect and use specific information required to successfully process the transaction. This includes financial information for credit card transactions, and address information for delivery of your purchase.
Any marketing conducted by us from this web site is strictly "Opt-In", that is, the customer must specifically request to be included on mailing lists or postal lists. The customer has COMPLETE control, at any time, on opting back out of those marketing communications.
Note that we will not sell, rent, or otherwise share this information with any third party, and our purpose for marketing is to inform you of our store's specials and events. We will not call your telephone for marketing purposes. We find that extremely crass and impolite.
In the normal course of operations, our web server, database server, security software, and other such software will keep logs of the data handled by the system. These logs contain IP addresses, domain names, and diagnostic information. We keep these logs in order to keep our systems operating at maximum speed and reliability, and for thwarting attacks from malicious individuals and software.
Keeping this information is critical in order to prevent downtime and/or compromise of our servers.
AVMCS has the obligation to turn over information to law enforcement if it receives a proper warrant or subpeona for it. In addition, AVMCS might turn over information for use in civil and/or criminal prosecution for illegal activities conducted on its site if the situation warrants such action. AVMCS retains the right to vigorously prosecute all attempts to compromise the security of its systems.
Internet Explorer users can view the AVMCS privacy policy in machine-readable ("P3P") format by clicking the
"eye" icon on the status bar on the bottom of the browser window.
Mozilla Firefox and Apple Safari do not have built-in P3P viewers; however, they do acknowledge the format and
allow or disallow cookies based upon it.
